Now that you’re smooth sailing with converting emails to tasks in Outlook for Mac using keyboard shortcuts that call AppleScripts that come preinstalled, you can access it from your iPhone and iPad with an app called IMExchange 2. In this case, it was “Create Task from Message” (without quotes).
It will give you a list of applications to choose from (Outlook 2011), and then for the menu title make sure you choose the name of the name of the script as it appears in the menu. To create the shortcut open up the Keyboard Shortcuts panel, and under Application Shortcuts hit +. Now that you know this Applescript exists, you can map that to a shortcut through System Preferences > Keyboard. Assign a Shortcut to Convert your Email to a Task! That inserts the header into the body of the new task, giving you the context you need to find the original message in your email. To fix that, you could first create a reply message to the original e-mail (which creates the header), and then run the script with that reply message open. Unfortunately, since tasks in Outlook 2011 cannot hold attachements, if there are attachements in your email, they will not convey into the new task, and so later you may be left confused as to the context of the task. Rename the task to be more action oriented, and then be sure to set the start date, Priority, and other fields, and save it.
